It started off as a tool to test the redesigned cards — but grew from there into a fully fledged deck building tool.

Features include:

Print full decks (new design and old cards)
Partial print decks (good for changes / old proxies)
Full text searching / easy filters
Import from: Secret Library (public)
Export to: Lackey, JOL, Text

There's a feedback icon on cards to report any issues with cards — more features to follow soon.

iOS and Android versions will also be released soon.

This design works with the standard "boxed" image artwork on cards. So it should be possible to use all existing artwork with them. The core idea is to make them as clear and easy to understand as possible.

UPDATE

To print! — time to compare to actual cards:

Bummer, turns out the first few characters of the title are VERY important. Actually, this offers an opportunity to simplify the card further and reduce icon noise. Since we now name the card type we can drop the icon to make space for the title — this has the bonus effect of the player only having to match discipline icons. Win!

UPDATE x2

Based on peoples feedback. Here's the final (or near enough) versions.

The size of title has been increased and re-positioned. The side bar has been given character without being too in your face — it's also been given a worn timely feel in keeping with the general game vibe. The texture is also partial derived from the main image — although it's very subtle.

I have built up a decent amount of starter deck stock, however they're not that good and only offer so much in terms variety (we don't want everyone playing the same black hand decks!).

So we've built decks using a shared pool of cards that are designed to be competitive from out of the box and follow popular and proven archetypes. They're packaged in a basic cardboard box with a custom label and include a copy of the new player guide so they still feel more substantial than a stack of cards.

They're also proving quite useful as decks for players to just play or to use to demo with.
Since the last time this was done, I have acquired quite a few cards and the seemingly ever growing pile of chaff (half completed or destroyed decks) and purchased cards was as intimidating as ever. This also lead to inefficient eBay purchases — unnecessary buying cards I already had plenty of... Not cool.

As part of this process I needed to replace my tired card dividers. Whilst they have served me well for the last 3 - 4 years, some had disappeared, others had become damaged and some I had simply not bothered to print (am looking at you Abombwe). This posed an issue as they required special printing on photographic paper and I had since left that printer in the UK.

So I took the opportunity to redesign the separators. The first priority was to make them work with standard printers / A4 paper, the second was to make them most robust yet still use standard paper. The first problem was easily solved with a new layout. The second required a little more thinking, although the solution in hindsight was obvious — sleeve the divider.

Here's the end result:
Including things like when to play an action vs an action modifier or even a reaction card.

So I put together a cheat sheet / new player guide which is clear and doesn't contain too much noise. It's not meant to be a replacement for the rules, but it should be enough for a new player to get up to speed with the core mechanics of the game and when to do what.
That's lead to more time for VTES and our local player group has slowly been increasing in numbers — as part of that, it's time to revive this blog...

www.vtes.co.nz has also been registered which currently routes to the Auckland player group page. Nor quite sure what to do with it longer term, but believe it will come in handy in terms of local player support.Kehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09082387124168630533noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1310995522226599098.post-56946833343849839612013-07-30T20:30:00.000+01:002013-07-30T23:41:47.944+01:00Tournament Report — New Blood Old BloodWe had a great tournament in London over the weekend. 14 Players, 3 rounds and a final — it was a great day with new and old faces. Below is a report written by Boris who had a storming day...

Inside the mind of Boris

Friday:

I hesitate between 3 decks: Imbued dance, Theo/Beast and Cordwood bleed. The imbued deck is broken down and I am too lazy to rebuild it. I know Norbert will play his Nosferatu deck, Ke tells me Fernando has built a Malkavian and himself has his Kiasyd. Between Obedience and Faerie Wards, things do not look too bright for rushers, so powerbleed it is.

Round 1:

Kieran (Torrance circle) -> Paul (Moncada/Tyler Baltimore Purge) -> Norbert (Nosfe Royalty Gr. 4-5 with DOM) -> me

On turn 3, Kieran plays an Oppugnant Night with his single Blood Brother "to cycle". That is the last rush he will draw this game. But I don't know that yet, so I just govern four minions out and equip with the Heart of Nizchetus and the Signet of King Saul in prevision of the end game. It works quite well: Kieran leaves me alone and has four minions but 10-ish pool. Paul influences Moncada, Norbert Petrodon then Dieudonne. The game accelerates when Paul plays a Baltimore Purge with Moncada and influences Tyler. On his turn Norbert banishes Tyler, I stay put as usual and Kieran keeps 2 vampires untapped: the one with the Sengir dagger and Mark, the bishop with +1 Intercept against bleed. The Purge sends Petrodon and Mark to torpor (as many votes as possible) and I manage to negotiate my smallest vampire to go in exchange for Cordwood's support on the blood hunt. Moncada leaves torpor, freak drives and diablerizes Petrodon. Tyler comes back. Norbert influences Gustaphe Brunelle to have another minion with dominate. I Pentex Kieran's last untapped vampire and bleed him out. Paul is 1 bleed too short to oust Norbert and he doesn't have another Purge to play. Norbert villeins Dieudonne for a lot and parity shifts Paul. I oust Paul and the duel is a bleed race that I win because Norbert has only one vampire with dominate.

Boris GW 4

Round 2:

Ruben (Nosferatu toolbox) -> Lorenzo (Khazar) -> me -> Mike (Ventrue Obfuscate)

I have a terrible starting hand: no Wash, no Magic of the Smith, no Govern. Ruben is a new player so I explain him what Lorenzo's deck does, and that he needs to pressure him early if he wants a chance of a vp, so he keeps bleeding and influences Harrod. Lorenzo gets vampires out, Mylan and an Embrace, and plays a Khazar every turn. Luckily I draw Grand Madre de Dio and I use Cordwood to block Lorenzo's actions, so he remains under control. Mike influences Lucinde, then Queen Anne, and villeins them both (I still haven't drawn a Wash). Lorenzo gets low on Pool and I delay Mike's Parity Shift, so he doesn't bloat too much either. Lorenzo bounces Harrod's bleed at me twice, I bounce it back twice. The second one ousts Lorenzo. In the same turn, I bleed Mike out. Then it's a bleed race again, but I finally have my Heart and draw enough bleed to finish Ruben with only 2 pool left.

Boris GW3, Ruben 1

Round 3:

Alex (weenie animalism computer hacking) -> Ke (Kiasyd bleed/Faerie ward) -> Kieran (Torrance circle) -> me

Alex's deck keeps pushing forward and cannot bounce, so I leave him alone early. Ke develops despite the pressure and I wash a lot of Kieran's masters. This time Kieran draws his rushes and I go to torpor a couple of times, but can still handle it. I think I have him under control when I pentex the vampire with the Sengir dagger and play Ponticulus, but he has Coordinate Attack so Ponticulus burns. In one turn Ke gets two vampires torporized, one by Kieran and one by Alex. Both Alex and I are down to less than 4 pool. Kieran plays an Oppugnant Night that Ke does not block. Luckily for me, he gets greedy and instead of rushing with everyone, he just torporizes my only untapped vampire and goes for the oust with Codex of Edenic Groundskeepers. On the Qui Vive, Deflection and Alex must spend his last wake, so I bleed him out on the next turn. But I didn't draw into another wake, so I am ousted quickly after and Kieran just needs to clear Ke's last vampire to win the table.

Kieran GW3, me 1

Final:

me 2 GW 8

Fernando (Malkav royalty gr 1-2) 2 GW 6.5

Maciej (CEL dom princes with guns) 1 GW 5.5

Norbert 1 GW 3

Kieran 1 GW 3

Kieran -> Norbert
Kieran -> Maciej -> Norbert
Fernando - > Kieran -> Maciej -> Norbert
me -> Fernando - > Kieran -> Maciej -> Norbert

Nothing complicated with the seating: I just cowered as far away from the meat grinders as possible. I am starting and have a Magic of the Smith in hand, so I go for Erich Weiss turn 2 and a Heart turn 3. Fernando does not have any crypt acceleration and I wash Norbert's Dreams, so Petrodon and Lucian will not hit the table until I have my Heart. I then influence Cordwood and start Governing down. Meanwhile Maciej has Donal O'Connor with a gun and Kieran gets 3 Blood Brothers out. Norbert villeins Petrodon for 6, plays a Secure Haven to avoid Maciej's rushes, and plays a Parity Shift while he has the most pool at the table…

The table accelerates when Fernando contests the Heart of Nizchetus. Maciej's bleed for 3 is bounced all way back to Kieran, tapping his last blocker. Norbert calls an Anarchist Uprising that would do 4 damage to me and 3 to Kieran, I delay it. Since Fernando has just played a Deflection, I take my chances and try to lower his pool to force him to give up the contest, but he has another one and I end up bleeding Kieran for 6 (he told me later he doesn't play any wakes), leaving him 6 pool. The other 2 bleeds go through and leave Fernando on 5 pool. He can oust Kieran with a Parity Shift but Maciej has 4 princes and together with Cordwood, we force Norbert to discard his Anarchist Uprising to make it pass. So Fernando has a vp, but still only 11 pool, Norbert has discarded his Anarchist Uprising and there is one less combat deck at the table. All in all, not too bad.

Maciej is sitting strong with 4 princes, 3 blood dolls and more than 15 pool. He keeps bleeding Norbert for 1, which works well because Petrodon is low on blood and Dieudonne does not have dominate. Without the Heart, I jam on reactions so I keep bleeding for 1 as well and wait for Norbert to move forward, until I finally draw a Dreams to get some bleed cards. Petrodon bleeds me for 2, it goes all the way to Maciej who bounces back at me after Petrodon added 3 stealth because Fernando is already low on pool. On the Qui Vive and second deflection to Fernando, who takes it this time. Then Norbert wants to call a Parity Shift and give pool back to Fernando, but I delay it. On my turn, I draw some more bleed with the Dreams and go for Fernando. Cordwood's bleed for 4 at 1 stealth is deflected to Maciej, who takes it (note for later: Maciej is low on defence). But that was Fernando's last defence too, and the next 2 stealth bleeds oust him.

Well deserved win! Congrats Boris — Ke

On his turn, Maciej does not backrush me, but he still has 13 pool and bleeds Norbert down to 4 pool. Norbert calls his Parity Shift backwards because he desperately needs the pool and needs Cordwood's vote to pass Maciej's 4 princes. He then bleeds with Petrodon, I deflect to Maciej and Norbert stealthes the bleed through because he doesn't want to get pummelled in combat. So on my turn, Maciej has only 8 pool left, he seems to be out of defence cards and I finally get my Heart back to draw a perfect stealth/bleed hand. It turns out 3 bleeds for 3 at 1 stealth are enough. With the tournament win secured, I concede to Norbert because it's late and time for a beer.

me 2 TW, Norbert 2, Fernando 1.

A great tournament with a rather aggressive meta, perfect for my deck's 8 bounces and 4 Delaying. Cheers to Ke for organising and providing the great prize support.
Given a rare positive result tournament wise, I thought it worth posting.

This time round I decided to not change decks at the last minute and play one of the decks I've been playing and honing for some time — with a few tweaks for blood management and combat defense. It’s a fast Setite deck, that typically grabs it’s first VP quickly and then settles down to work through the second and hopefully third.
Minimal bounce, but having Keith uptapped generally discourages big bleeds. Added extra Majesties and Mental Mazes for UK meta.

Round 1.

Ke (Setites) > Hugh (Girls + !Nos Deep Song) > Matt (!Toreador) > John (Anson Guns) > Boris (Weenie Potence)

Joy, two rush decks either side of me. I got a nice quick start and fended off Boris’s initial rushes fairly well, I stole Jake from Hugh to prevent one rush and was tempted to steal Carlton cross table from Matt to survive (he didn’t really need him as all of Hugh’s attention was focused on me). I didn’t come out of the blocks particularly fast but knew I had to get Hugh before his pool gain kicked in. I managed to get a secure haven on Nakhthorheb and the rest of my minions ended up in torpor (he alone tends to be enough). Hugh had not drawn a Villein and on 1 pool he was tempted to Golconda Nakhthorheb (but the secure haven would’ve ousted him), I washed it when he played on one of his vamps. My next bleed was bounced across the table, I pushed it through for the edge and enticed to oust Hugh. It seemed a waste; 5 pool damage to oust a player on 1 — but heh it was a VP.

John’s Guns were losing out to Boris’s Potence and he was low on pool from Matt’s constant pressure. Matt dropped a Palla Grande which John hadn’t accounted for, one bleed was blocked the rest ousted. Matt promised not to bleed Boris if he didn’t back rush, Boris bled for 6 with 6 minions. I could survive another round or two of bleeds and went forward. Matt didn’t break the deal and called an anarchist uprising to oust Boris (in effect gaining 2 pool and a VP). Time was getting low and I worked through my turn as fast as possible, I bought out a second minion leaving us both on 5 pool or so. Matt called a Kine, I took 3 and he took 1, in his turn I bled for 4 with enkil for the oust. With only 2 minutes on the clock it was a very close game (1GW 3VP).

Round 2.

Matt (!Toreador) > Ke (Setites) > Theo + Euro Brujah > Mike (!Malk vote) > Kieran (Lasombra Bruise Bleed Vote)

Look over there!
(nothing to see here).

I had seen the damage output that Matt’s deck could do in the last game, between the bleeds at the votes I was worried. I could kinda handle the bleeds, but not the votes — thankfully my cross table had that covered. Again I got a quick start, but did no pool damage to my prey on my first turn, instead I tooled up with Mokole blood and insisted I was in no rush (I am not a threat!). Theo emptied and torpered Mike’s 9 cap priscus, when he did rush backwards Keith took it to the face leaving him empty with Lilith’s in play. I lunged once in a position oust over two turns and survive a rush, leaving my prey on 3 pool. Sure enough he rushed Nakhthorheb with Theo, I DI’d the grapple, Majestied and ousted him the following turn with a bleed for 3 and enticed Mike. Matt had got me quite low on pool, thankfully Kieran’s Lasombra helped with a Political Stranglehold. Kieran ousted Matt and I ousted Mike. By this stage I was low on pool and ousting power, whilst Kieran had free reign to build — he ousted me in two rounds. (2 VP)

Round 3.

Norbert (Nos Bruise and Vote) > Ant (Tupdogs) > Ke (Setites) > John (Anson guns) > Blackhand Animlism

1 pool of pure destruction.

Meh. That could probably some up this game (well, my roll in it). Norbert and I started transferring and both aimed to get at least two minions in play at the same time, except I’m bled for 7 by Keith and a Tupdog. I had no option but to bring up Nakhthorheb. His +1 strength turned out to be semi useful as after two rushes he’s left 3 blood in torpor (bonus!). He self rescues and is left with 2 blood (Perfectionist). The following turn he’s torpored and grave robbed before I was bled out.

Norbert faired a bit better, he managed to act a turn or so and get the Tupdogs down to 4 pool, he was caught without any extra stealth on the ousting anarch uprising and promptly torpored the next turn. With no minions (bar one with fame bouncing in and out of torpor) Norbert was ousted. The tupdog deck clawed its way back with the powerbase and dreams before catching John off guard with plenty of maneuvers and squeezing a second VP out of the game before almost decking decking. The black hand animalism bled with deep songs to take the game.

Final.

Hugh (Girls + !Nos) > Me (Setites) > Ant (Tupdogs) > Fernando (Classic Lawfirm) > Kieran (Lasombra)

It’s been sometime since I’ve been in a final and I was quite happy to have qualified. I had adjusted to the likelyhood that the tupdogs were likely to wreck me — and was relieved with 2x Mokole bloods in my opening hand. I bought out Nakhthorheb with 2x Eternals and my prey influenced out Keith Moody with two Tupdogs. Fernando stayed low and the rest of table influenced without acceleration. On my first and possibly last acting turn I equipped with Mokole Blood and retrieved 2x Enticements and 2x Revelation of Ecstasy, I stole one tupdog preventing one rush and more importantly a new crypt card for my prey. Threats of rushes ensued, thankfully contesting Keith Moody had that covered. From then on I had free reign on the Tupdog deck, quickly working through his pool while doing my best to convince the table that it was a good thing that he went and went quickly (before Fernando gathered too much pace). On the turn the Ant brought another !Tremere into play he was left on 3 pool. Hugh Pentex’d Nakhthorheb and tried to rush Cagliostro, he survived and removed the Pentex with a casual Forgotten Labyrinth. Nakhthorheb tapped the lone !Tremere with Revelation of Ecstasy and bled for 3. Goodbye Tupdogs.

Fernando’s Lawfirm had taken zero pressure so far and was in a good shape (although lacking vote lock). Kieran looked as comfortable as you can be with a Lawfirm behind you and Hugh was low on pool (this doesn’t tend to mean much). I kept my head down and just kept pecking at the Lawfirm with bleeds of 2 (enkil cog), the Lawfirm parity shifted me twice, leaving me low on pool. After a Villein Giants Blood combo Hugh continued to rush and I kept drawing majesties or rescued with Nakhthorheb’s first action, he was perfect and the Covern was in play.

Fernando played Slaughtering the Herd on Nakhthorheb which I attempted to block, he then dropped a Daring the Dawn which when resolved burnt the Herd (sweet, although it required a brief rollback after re-reading the card). He next tried to banish Cagliostro (my only other ready minion), thankfully I managed to convinced my grand predator to disallow it as it would probably give Hugh a VP, thankfully he did — as with a third parity shift.

I managed to get the Lawfirm low on pool (5 or so) and had gained enough pool via the edge, wider view and eternals to bring Cybele into play (she had been discreting sitting there with 6 transfers for a number of turns). During the Fernado's next turn he lunged. Sending one of Kieran's minions to torpor with Kiss of Ra and in turn giving him the vote lock. He got Kieran down to 3 pool with one action remaining, a kine resources contested which I delayed — he also sat on 3 pool. After checking Fernando’s ash heap I decided to risk bleeding his turn, it was bounced and my prey gained 6 pool (doh!). Hugh triggered an Ashur cycle and managed to dunk Nakhthorheb.

Things are a little fuzzy now. Cybele rescued Nakhthorheb, he gained 2 with the covern and bled hardish reducing Fernando back to 3 pool. During Fernando’s turn he went for the oust again, Hugh delayed one ousting vote, I delayed another. Fernando was left on 3 pool. With an enticement in hand I bled knowing it wouldn’t oust Hugh (on 6). This time no bounce. The Lawfirm goes down.

I entice Hugh, leaving him on 3 pool with his turn to come. Thankfully I draw my final Majesty and survive his rush. With the Opium Den, Monastery of Shadows, and a hand full of stealth I push a bleed through for the win.

A month ago, at Burton I played so badly. I was in the wrong head space, thinking too much, trying too hard and getting to angry. I needed to chill out. I took that advice on board and it served me well in Denmark, and even more this event. Sweet.
I also got tired of counting the cards each time I made changes to physical decks, so I thought I'd try find a solution.

I came up with the below PDFs:
Essentially each A4 sheet holds 30 cards (60 cards on the A3 version) and as you add cards to the deck you lay them on the sheet by priority or card type — simples. It may seems pedantic but I tried it last night when prepping for the Danish ECQ and it worked really well — it seemed to provide a better feel for the deck.
You can download the PDF's here:

So the results are in for the first London League and it turned out fairly close with only 2 game wins in it. Norbert took the runner up position with 117 league points and I pipped the top spot with 135 league points. Special mention goes to Boris with the highest GW ratio of 35% — very impressive and largely due to his deliciously filthy presence bleed deck.

Not sure about the next league and how we will work it, but this weekend there's a tournament at our local haunt The Jugged Hare from 12PM come and join us!
There's a tournament in London on the 23rd of February and we will restart the league afterwards. So only a month or so left for scoring points in this one guys!

A few of us played an odd tournament over the weekend. It was very low scoring — so much so that the final was cancelled and another round added. Well done to John Best for winning with 1GW 3VP!
The usual venue was closing early on our regular night (new years eve!), so in order to play some games and make the most of a more relaxed environment it was hosted at my house.
I drew into no crypt acceleration (7x Eternals in 70 cards) and had to bring Nakhthorheb out the slow way. This would pose a problem as the Lawfirm needs to be pressured hard and early on as once it gets rolling it’s very hard to stop. By the time Nakhthorheb is ready to act the lawfirm has two minions in play and has done plenty of pool damage to Norbert (govern, freak drive kine I think).

Mike fames one of Nikkis minions (Saxum, Master of Slaves) and rushes his predators (Matt) Giovanni del Georgio. Mike decides against torpor him and leaves him on 2 blood. Fernando DI’s my first Venenation and I bring out Catherine De Bois to bounce Nikki bleeds, they then get bounced to Norbert — Norbert has no bounce and begins to suffer.

By this stage Norbert is running low on pool and his first two con boons blocked by Fernando with second tradition — he manages to get two off leaving him on 12 pool or so. Matt sits pretty and recruits a number of wraiths, doing his best not to offend Goratrix.

Nikki govern bleeds me and I ask why he’s trying to oust Norbert? He looks puzzled at first and after some table talk (Norbert was OK with the risk) I decide to bounce the bleed to my prey who promptly bounces it to Norbert. Nakhthorheb bleeds Fernando for 1 which is blocked I play Venenation and Majesty. Catherine bleeds for 1 and is bounced to Norbert, Enticement follows.

The bounced bleed leaves Norbert in range (9 pool or so) and Fernando ousts him leaving his minions tapped out and low on blood. Goratrix rumbles a few of Nikki’s minions and toasts his Razor Bats, but he’s sitting relatively comfortable. I bounce one of his bleeds (for 3) which Fernando copes with too comfortably — Parity Shift perhaps. I play an Externals on Neferu and bleed Fernndo for 6 (3 Nakhthorheb and 3 Catherine) this is followed by an Enticement. I ensure I’m not in parity shift range and bring out Neferu, leaving me on 1 poll less than Fernando with a Sudden in hand for any master phase shenanigans.

Fernando trys to play a Giants blood on Emerson Bridges which I sudden with a smile. Emerson Bridges is then force to hunt. Fernando, tries a parity shift which is then block by Ambrosius and the Unmasking. He trys another one with his final minion, this time with some table talk beforehand — however Matt is not willing to take the risk and blocks. This leaves Fernando on 7-8 pool or so.

The table kinda accepts that Fernando is going to die, hower Matt and Felix "Fix" Hessian conspire to destroy Nakhthorheb’s secure haven. As Nikki’s turn rolls around I fear and expect a rush, but it never happens, he’s bleeds fairly solidly. I Villein Neferu for 9 and she becomes Bahari. Nakhthorheb bleeds for 5 (Enchant Kindred + Revelation of Desire) and entices to oust Fernando, leaving me on 20 pool or so with not much time on the clock.

Matt does works the Sudario refraction magic to ensure he always has a deflection in hand and Mike gets close to ousting Nikki as the table times...

This was a long and very interesting game with somewhat of anti-climax...

Matt puts a protected resources in play, effectively changing my ousting mechanism to a death of a dozen cuts. Norbert parity shifts Nikki for 5 with his first action.

Nikki does a lot of tooling up and way too much hunting with Cardano he seems to be fishing for a card (I still wonder what) and is dangerously getting low on both blood and pool. Mike back rushes, I bleed just a few times for one and the Daughters bloat whilst working on Fernando with Lily Prelude.

The two Camarilla vote decks support each other as Mike rushes back and forth between predator and prey. Nikki rushes one of my minions as “it’s the only one” he can rush — the minion’s torpored then promptly rescued. I build my small army and continue to ping away at Matt’s pool.

Matt looks to have Fernando in range, with empty minion and low pool. A Giants blood and a parity shift (supported cross table) from his prey soon change that and he’s back in the game. Mike rush and burns Sir Walter Nash.

Who the hell is this?

Norbert goes lite on Nikki who doesn’t seems to be blocking any of his build up actions, governs, fourth traditions etc seem to be going unblocked and Norbert is building strongly with plenty of pool and reasonable heath minions. He bring Etrius into play as a fourth vampire! The roll call is now: Stanislava, Don Cruez, The Idealist, Ingrid Rossa, and Etrius.

I play an Oppugnant Night and torporise Matt’s minions except one and in theory can working my way through his pool on the next turn. He bring’s a new minion in play and sits tight. Fernando Villeins Arika, bleeds Mike and brings out Emerson Bridges. Mike burns Arika.

Nobert works away at Nikki’s pool and it looks likely that he will oust Nikki on the following turn. I’m sitting quite comfortably pool wise and decide to lend a hand by playing another Oppugnant Night and rush Norbert’s minions (trying to weaken him before he gets to me). I leave Stanislava empty, although it proves irrelevant as Norbert has a Lilith’s Blessing lurking in the dark shadows of the table.

So how about it?

The table’s at a point we’re most players are managing a balancing act between ousted and staying alive — with Norbert being the exception. After rushing backwards, I mistakenly thought that Matt would appreciate the space. On his turn he dropped an Anarchist Uprising, his prey and one minion and this would effectively hand the game to Norbert — leaving both his prey (Nikki) and his grand prey (me) low on pool. Nobert pushed the vote through and all our fates were sealed.

Fernando ousts Mike with a bleed for 1, letting the Eye of Hazimere do the rest. Norbert, kinda does the right thing by parity shifting me before ousting Nikki, the only problem is I only have 5 pool and there are still 5 players in the game — 6 pool and 1 VP to my predator! It doesn’t stop him being ousted that turn. Nor does stop Norbert ousting Matt that turn though and he has to wait one more turn to do so. Fernando concedes close to time.

As part of the constant pursuit for gaining control of my card collection, I turned to IKEA's catalogue searching for something cheap and practical to store cards in. Previously I had been using 5000 capacity card board boxes to store cards — but they were large and cumbersome.

I found a cheap practical solution — multiple sets of Helmer drawers. Each one can hold approximately 12,000 cards and the draws come up completely (which is great when working with single disciplines or clans). They were only £25 / €25 an absolute bargin.

I simply sliced up the boxes they came in for dividers and glued them in place — here are some pics.
This week we had a new player joining us, Artur.

Game one

Artur gets a good start with a charming lobby on his a Kine Resources Contested followed by a Praxis shortly afterwards. The following turn he calls a Rumours of Gehenna, I ask for an extra master phase offering my votes if needed if the future (yes, I have none) and he obliges (I run 11 or so master cards).

Norbert and Fernando start to get nervous as it looks like Artur is running away with things as it's taking a long time for Fernando to bring up his first minions (10 cap Democritus). Nikki still has no minions in play. I have two minions (Guedado & Dr. Morrow) and bleed in to Matt who smartly declines to block with Giovanni del Georgio. On the following turn Matt Villeins del Georgio for 4 and attempts to recruit a puppeteer, I block on the basis of my low cap minions and torporise him. This leaves Matt in huff and puff mode and pretty much from that point on does nothing other than sit there as a pool sack — even after I let him leave torpor and promise that he can play his game. Joy.

With Democritus on the table Norbert is able to call a number of crusades and between him and Fernando effectively shutdown Arturs game. I burn the edge a number of times to help some of Arturs votes pass — but my 1 vote doesn't count for a lot. On Nikki's next turn he brings out Lucinde and contests the Justicar title with Democritus — the first time I've seen Democritus's special kick in and the votes swing across the table in Norberts favour. I continue to bleed into Matt.

A few turns on Artur is now very weak and it's apparent that Norbert is the table threat — he has vote lock with Unexpected Coalition. Fernando giants blood's Democritus and Nikki yeilds the title. Fernando has 3 minions in play and Nikki now has Marcus Vitel, the three of them (Artur, Fernano and Nikki) begin to work together against Norbert — while at some point allowing Nikki to parity from 5 from me. I bleed Matt.

Norbert ousts Artur on his next turn with a combination of votes and bleeds. Fernando stays defensive as he's quite low on pool, Nikki parity shifts 5 from Norbert to Fernando and manages to pass the votes with awe and bewitching operation. Matt is in range and proving I can cycle into one more bleed modifier I believe I can oust him. He allows one bleed through and blocks another with a puppeteer I maneuver to long and burn him with Breath of the Dragon drawing into the bleed boost needed — I bleed Matt out.

The table's close to timing and Norbert launches the assault on Fernando. I can block one of his political actions and decide to let the first Kine through — it passes. From then on Norbert simply bleeds and boosts the bleeds using Miguel Santo Domingo special. Fernando survives with Majesties and a few top deck deflections on 1 pool. The table times shortly after.

This game was an odd one. I managed to get a good start and put a lot of pressure on my prey — however early game Norbert called an ancient influence and everyone on the table except Matt and I gained six pool or so. Paired with another Villein+Giants blood combo by Fernando my predator had almost 30 pool and two minions now in play. My grand predator had 3 minions in play with 20 pool or so (Stanislava, Ingrid Rossler and ?) — it wasn't look too good. Matt's daughters deck was vote locked — although he manage to get MANY defensives votes through with Madrigal (it's amazing what people will vote for, for a blood).
A Pentex on Rachel allowed me to get a few more bleeds through before Zoe removed it with a Forgotten Labyrinth and Swallowed by the night. I managed to get Artur down to 5 - 6 pool although Rachel equipped with the Bowl, Homunculus and the Palatial Estate was proving difficult to get past or torporise.

A dispute broke out about the blocking / referendum window. With one block of players thinking blocks had been declined as terms were being discussed and the other block thinking it was a pre conversation before blocks — this chewed through a chunk of played but was resolved amicably.

Fernando ousts me after I torporise one of his Minions with the sole copy of fast reaction in the deck (in there because it was funny). On his following turn he plays temptation of greater power on Rachel, Norbert ends up winning paying 11 pool and he's unable to oust Artur. The game ends as we're kicked out of the pub...
Matt cancels Mike's first two legacy of panders (and probably kills his game). In return Mike removes Matt's first Foundation Exhibit and cancels his next with Bleeding the Vine (probably kills half his game).
Niki blocks Fernando's first govern down — Majesty. Norbert plays Ossian, Vampiric Disease on Wilhelm Waldburg and delays Mike's first two Kine Resources Contested.

Fernando parity shifts Niki. Mike deals with Fernando to play two Kines.
Fernando successfully golconda's Wilhelm Waldburg with a second after the first is washed.

Violette Prentiss the Justicar goes torpor — leaving Fernando with just two votes. Mike convinces Niki to support his Legacy of Pander, it passes and Mike ousts Norbert shortly before the table timed out.
Giovanni del Georgio and Kay Polerno in play. Ivan tries to parity shift with Alexandra (oops) and after being informed that he's not able bleeds for 3, I hide the heart at inf this an all actions by my predator and prey.

Ivan tries to parity shift (legally this time) with Anson and I delay it. He bleeds with Anson and Alexandra banishes the heavily villein’d and Pentex’d Al-Muntathir. Slowly but surely my preys vampires are emptying even with The Covern (boo!) now in play. Matt continues to play defensively which I allow (with that extra blood cost of course) as he correctly assumes that any bleeds will be bounced. I now have enough minions to go forward and begin to bleed for mega bleeds of 1 - the table laughs and then again when I bring the power bleeder Andre into play.

By this stage Ivan's minions are on 1 - 2 blood and he's on 5 pool or so. He goes for the oust with Reins of Power which is delayed, forcing Anson to hunt, which fails. Alexandra attempts to bleed for 6. Norbert on 5 pool bounces the bleed after I reduce it by 2, Matt blocks and my prey remains tapped out with empty vamps.
Matt does his best to oust me the following turn, but I have enough minions to block or reduce. I send a few minion Norbert's way with Blissful Agony and retain the edge. My goal is to oust Ivan and Norbert in one turn, an unexpected on the qui ve stops that but I oust my prey and leave Norbert on a few pool with an anarch revolt in play.

Norbert lunges at, getting him down to 4 pool or so. I advise him to go anarch, worried that I won't get Norbert on the next turn (a big mistake on my part) and I drop a second revolt. I get Norbert down to 2 pool and he dies on his turn.

Unfortunately The Coven was still in play and seriously slows my game as I’m unable to burn Matt’s only anarch with Society of Leopold. Eventually I draw into Jack and he accelerates the the victory...
On my first turn I bring out Zoe and move 1 pool to
Melisande the following turn Zoe has a bowl. No sign of a gun. Matt has a couple of small cap Toreador Antitribu in play and between him and me we block my preys (Ivan) governs down. I block Lydia, Grand Praetor’s (Norbert) Vaticination (Pentex and Haven in hand) and Zoe goes to torpor. The next turn I rush Lydia with the haven and reduce her to 0 blood the with hands x4. Still no gun. Ivan has a window to govern down and proceed to bring out more minions. Matt does some heavy damage to Norbert forcing him to play defensively.
I have a wash in hand and am saving it for my prey’s villein’s — they never come. Either I’ve inadvertently telecast my hand or he’s having a really bad draw. I have plenty of bleed boost in my hand but decide against playing it as my prey has plenty of bounce and minions. Eventually I get my prey down to a few pool and fame one of his vamps. He’s leaving 2x minions untapped, 1 the famed minion an another disposable. My plan is to pentex one and bleed or torporise the other. It’s a redundant plan as Matt agrees to back oust if I help him oust Norbert. I’m happy with this as I’m not keen on blocking him and receiving 2 agg to the face.
Together we pressure Norbert hard, I wash a villein, Pentex Veejay Vinod and once removed Matt then Pentexes Ponticulus and gets Norbert down to 1 pool — but not out (Giants blood and Villein follow). The Anarch Troublemaker is bouncing round the table as are the bleeds. Eventually Norbert taps me out with the Troublemaker and Recurring Contemplation — I take a couple of bleeds totalling 9 or so leaving me on a few pool. Matt ousts Norbert on his next turn and with the aid of Powerbase: Savannah avoids torpor with 4 or 5 combat ends. He ousts me after a misplay of not blocking with an atoned Victoria and takes the game win.

In hindsight I should have just pushed forward and tried to oust Matt, but I wasn’t keen on the head to head with Norbert and after his impressive resilience and stubbornness wanted to watch him go down. Never did get that gun.
