Tournament Report — New Blood Old Blood

We had a great tournament in London over the weekend. 14 Players, 3 rounds and a final — it was a great day with new and old faces. Below is a report written by Boris who had a storming day...

VTES Tournament Report — English ECQ 2013

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a tournament report, partly because the results have been somewhat demoralising but also because time has been tight. Given a rare positive result tournament wise, I thought it worth posting.

This time round I decided to not change decks at the last minute and play one of the decks I've been playing and honing for some time — with a few tweaks for blood management and combat defense. It’s a fast Setite deck, that typically grabs it’s first VP quickly and then settles down to work through the second and hopefully third.

London League — End of first League

It's been a while since my last post, life outside of VTES has been busy — so asides from playing time's been limited.

So the results are in for the first London League and it turned out fairly close with only 2 game wins in it. Norbert took the runner up position with 117 league points and I pipped the top spot with 135 league points. Special mention goes to Boris with the highest GW ratio of 35% — very impressive and largely due to his deliciously filthy presence bleed deck.

Not sure about the next league and how we will work it, but this weekend there's a tournament at our local haunt The Jugged Hare from 12PM come and join us!

London League — Drunk with Friends

Not much of a report this week as there were too many games, too much alcohol, played too long ago to report accurately.  The usual venue was closing early on our regular night (new years eve!), so in order to play some games and make the most of a more relaxed environment it was hosted at my house.

Below are the games we played and the results. We next play Monday the 7th at the Jugged Hare — make it along if you're in or live near London. All players welcomed!

London League — Week six

Unfortunately this this the first opportunity I’ve had to write about these games and the memories are now somewhat faint — also having played a few games online since then doesn’t help...

London League — Week five

The fifth installment of our weekly games. This week we had a new player joining us, Artur.

London League — Week four

Couldn't make it this week as I got hit by a nasty cough.

Thankfully Matt and Mike reported the results of the games and took some notes — thanks guys. I reworked the text here and there — but it's essentially their reports...

London League — Week three

As expected, turn out was low after a great UK Nationals (congratulations Hugh) — that said the games were very interesting with no one running away with things.

Most of this was written on my phone while commuting — so please excuse the dribble...

London VTES League — Week two

This is the second week of the London league, brief report below — we still need to decide on an end date. Also, the UK VTES nationals are on this weekend at our local haunt. Make it along if you can...

The London League

So on Monday night we agreed that a league would be something cool to do.

It should encourage return visits and also provide an archive of the evolution of our play group. We typically have enough players for one table, at times two. In terms of scoring this is how it currently works:

  • 1 points for particpating in a game
  • 2 points for a VP
  • 3 points for a GW
  • Minimum four players to register

VTES EC non-report, great time.

Well, I've almost recovered from the EC — four days of VTES and 10 hours of sleep.

Tournament wise it was a poor showing on my part, a paltry 1 VP in the nations cup, 0.5 on day 1 and a big fat 0 in the FCQ. Am disappointed with my performances in the nations cup and on day 1 as the result was down to poor play — the FCQ less so as I decided to play a fun deck that I've been toying with.

English ECQ Report

There's a tournament report of the English ECQ posted at the Anarch Free Press here.

All in all, it was a good day — I freakishly managed to qualify by drawing 6th place (talk about close). Managed a GW in the closing minutes of the final game — sweet.

Please excuse the lack of posts. I've lost a number of epic tournament reports due to bloggers poor interface — but hopefully I'll get my posting mojo back soon...

VTES Tournament Report

On Saturday another tournament took place at the Jugged Hare in London. I'd consider the turn out fairly reasonable for early January with 16 players attending — 4x4 player tables. I can only offer my limited perspective as once again I was drawn into the event and failed to keep tabs elsewhere.

This time round I played a deck which had been tested and tweaked substantially over the previous weeks on Lackey CCG — a Ur-Shulgi based Alamut vote and bleed deck. The deck was originally based around a tap and bleed concept involving Condemn the Sins of the Father although after play testing this was reduced to a minor attack / defence mechanism.

UK Nationals — 10 hours of VTES!

Our local VTES venue was the host for the UK Nationals on Saturday and what a day it was. The turnout was good (especially given the awesome weather) and atmosphere was great — friendly players and at a homely venue. Unfortunately (from a blog perspective) I got quite caught up in my games, so coverage is going to limited, sans notes and to keep it simple I'll refer to the decks versus player names.
